June has been noted as a busier time than Christmas with end of school year events, graduations and youth sports seasons. It is a season of milestones and important life events. At First Congregational Church we start the month with a celebration of Confirmation. Alex Grose and Neil Dickerman will be confirmed on Sunday, June 2 at the 11:15 service. In addition to Confirmation classes Alex and Neil have been dedicated members of the worship band with Alex playing guitar and Neil playing bass. This is a great opportunity to welcome two very active youth into the membership of the church. May their faith continue to play a vital role in their lives as they mature and take on new challenges in their lives.
June 9th is Children’s Sunday and we honor our church school students and teachers as they complete another church school program year. The children will lead worship on Children’s Sunday with a single worship service at 10 a.m. After church, we enjoy a tour of the church school classrooms and share a delicious ice cream social. For more temptation, the Church School will also be having a bake sale to fund special events.
For a time to relax in this busy season, join us for the annual camp worship and church picnic on June 23rd. Again we will have just one worship service but it will be at 11 a.m. The deacons provide the meat, condiments and drinks and everyone else brings side dishes and desserts. Carpooling from church is encouraged for those who would like to ride out to Camp Wabbaquassett in Eastford for the day.
Father’s Day will be honored on June 16 at our normal worship services along with the end of our Blankets+ mission campaign. Mark the milestones of life by celebration with us during the month of June.
